Artificial Insemination

WHAT IS ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION?

The artificial insemination (AI) is an assisted reproduction treatment of low complexity, which involves the introduction of a semen sample previously prepared in the laboratory, either from the partner or from a donor in the uterus of the woman.

With this procedure increases the chances of pregnancy with respect to a sexual relationship thanks to the semen sample that is treated previously and in addition it stimulates the ovary to control the growth of the eggs.

IN WHAT CASES IS INDICATED THE ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION?

The AI can be performed with a sample of sperm previously frozen or fresh, either from the partner or from a donor.

  • Women with good number and quality of eggs but without a male partner.
  • Women with alterations in ovulation or anovulation.
  • Women with an alteration in the entrance of the uterus.
  • Women with corrected tubal factor.
  • Women with allergy to sperm.
  • Couples in which the man presented mild or moderate abnormalities in the quality of their sperm.

SUCCESSFUL ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION

For the Artificial Insemination to be successful, two conditions must be met:

A fallopian tube should be permeable, this can be checked by performing a hysterosalpingogram.

esperma

The semen of the man must comply with more than 3 million seminal parameters. This is checked by means of a semen analysis.

PROCESS OF ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION

Step 1

First Consultation

In the first consultation, our specialists in fertility and embryology perform a personalized assessment to determine the most appropriate assisted reproduction treatment for the patient. This session includes a complete gynecological study, as well as an analysis of the sperm.

Step 2

Ovarian stimulation

With the start of the treatment, which is marked by the menstrual cycle of the woman, we begin the ovarian stimulation, which has an estimated duration of 10-12 days. This stimulation increases the chances of success, as the woman naturally only produces an egg each menstrual cycle, while this ensures the development of one or two.

Step 3

Preparation of the semen sample

On the day of insemination, in the Andrology laboratory of our clinic, we prepare the sperm sample to optimize its quality and increase the likelihood of fertilization. If you are using the semen of the partner, the man must deliver the sample in the laboratory about 2 hours before the treatment. This preparation allows you to select and concentrate the sperm of better mobility, discarding those dead, stationary or moving slowly. If you are using a frozen sperm sample, this takes your preparation of 2 hours prior to inseminate

Step 4

Artificial Insemination

Artificial insemination is done in consultation, without sedation and without the need to go through a surgical procedure. After the placement of a speculum to open the cervical canal, you enter the semen sample prepared through a tube to carry it to the inside of the uterus.

ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION WITH DONOR

Artificial insemination consists in the deposit of motile sperm of an anonymous donor who had been previously treated in the laboratory, in the interior of the uterus of the woman. These samples of anonymous donor are found in our Sperm Bank donors.

We perform rigorous studies that includes seminal and sanitary controls to minimize the risk of transmission of infectious and inherited diseases.

In addition, the sperm bank will also attempt to provide samples with the most physical similar and immune with the parents.
